What is MB17+ or Modern Baybayin 17+?
The MB17+ is a modern version of B17+. The goal of MB17+ is to simplify and make the modernization of Baybayin easy without compromising practicality by avoiding the addition of scripts/characters and taking advantage of diacritics instead to change the sound of the characters while preserving the original 17 characters used by our ancestors. With this, it’ll be easier to remember and memorize the characters and shift in sounds.
Why use La for Ra instead of Da?
In phonetics or the study of human sounds, “L” and “R” are both liquid consonants. Basically, they sound closer to each other compare to “R” and “D”.
And why use a dot (•) for vowels “e” and “o” and a line (—) for vowels “i” and “u”?
Simply because the little “e” and “o” look more closer in appearance to a dot than “i” and “u” respectively, making it more easier to remember.

i find this system more efficient rather than adding more symbols for the non-native sounds.
