The Lord’s Prayer or the Our Father is without a doubt one of, if not the most important prayer. It is the prayer that our Lord Jesus Himself taught to His disciples. It may as well be one of the most translated prayer.

Below is the Lord’s Prayer translated in Japanese language. The first one is written in Japanese followed by the Romaji or romanized transliteration of the Japanese text followed by the English translation. An image is also included below with the Japanese text in tategaki (縦書き) or vertical format.

主の祈り

天におられるわたしたちの父よ、

み名が聖とされますように。

み国が来ますように。

みこころが天に行われるとおり地にも行われますように。

わたしたちの日ごとの糧を今日もお与えくださう。

わたしたちの罪をおゆるしください。わたしたちも人をゆるします。

わたしたちを誘惑におちいらせず、悪からお救いください。

アーメン。

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
